jenna-sommers:
“Are you okay?” he asked softly as he watched her staring out the window for however many minutes it’s been by now. Her expression was bare and almost morbid, and he could easily tell that something was on her mind; he could read her like an open book.
She bit her lip at his question, and a sigh escaped her chest as she looked up. “I’m scared, Ric,” she replied and her voice was shaky. Her expression changed, but it wasn’t a look of happiness or even joy as she faced him; it was an expression of fear and if a passer-by didn’t know any better, pain.
They were both scared. Alaric as much as Jenna, but he knew that no matter what life would throw at them, they would make it. Jenna wasn’t so sure about that. The world seemed like a terrible place now, and she was scared whenever she left the house, but she was not only scared for herself. How would she ever be able to let their child go, knowing what was roaming the streets of Mystic Falls? How would she ever be able to sleep at night, knowing that she could lose Alaric or the baby tomorrow? What had she been thinking?
“I know. Me too,” he replied carefully as he approached her and as he was close enough, he pulled her into his arms. The child they made between them, protected by two loving parents, and in this moment, Alaric promised himself that he would never let anything happen to either one of them. He would die a thousand deaths to keep them safe. He would go to the end of the world and further to make sure nothing will ever hurt the two most important people in his life. They would make it. They would make it through it all.
